British soldiers ‘tortured and murdered 20 Iraqis, then covered it up with firefight claim’

By Neil Sears

British soldiers tortured and murdered up to 20 Iraqis in cold blood, the High Court was told yesterday.

It happened after a three-hour gun battle at an Army checkpoint near Basra, a lawyer claimed.

Rabinder Singh said a group of local men were taken prisoner and transported to an Army camp where they were beaten with a rusty tent pole, punched, slammed against walls, denied water, blasted with loud music and forced to strip naked in the presence of a woman – a humiliation for Muslim men.

The next day, he said, only nine were still alive – and 20 corpses were returned to their families. One was teenager Hamid Al-Sweady. …

But Mr Singh said that when the shooting was over, the British troops took bloody revenge. He said: ‘It is the claimants’ case that at least some of those captured were tortured and killed by British troops between 14 and 15 May 2004, and that there has been no effective investigation into what happened to them in that 24-hour period.

‘This constitutes a substantive and procedural breach of the European Convention on Human Rights.’

He added: ‘There is a lot of evidence from soldiers at the battlefield that there were more than nine that were taken alive.

‘Many of the bodies of the Iraqis returned on 15 May 2004 were severely disfigured and some appeared to show marks of torture and mutilation.’ …

Murder and Torture: Hallmarks of British KGB

Posted by terres on March 8, 2009

In view of public interest the following BBC UK article is mirrored here:

[Note to readers: The MI5 is Britain’s equivalent of the notorious KGB in the former Soviet Union.]

Demands for MI5 ‘torture’ inquiry

Binyam Mohamed getting off his plane

Mr Mohamed arrived back at RAF Northolt in London in February

MPs have demanded a judicial inquiry into a Guantanamo Bay prisoner’s claims that MI5 was complicit in his torture.

In a Mail on Sunday interview, UK resident Binyam Mohamed claims MI5 fed his US captors questions, at a time he said he was being tortured in Morocco.

His allegations are being investigated by the government, but the Foreign Office said it did not condone torture.

Shadow justice secretary Dominic Grieve said the “extremely serious” claims should also be referred to the police.

‘Dark prison’

Mr Mohamed told the paper he was held in continual darkness for weeks on end in a prison in Kabul, Afghanistan.

He has claimed that while in US custody in 2002, he was ered to Morocco for interrogation and torture, which led to him making a false confession.

Now he has released what he said were two telegrams sent from British intelligence to the CIA in November 2002.

In the first memo, the writer asks for a name to be put to him and then for him to be questioned further about that person.

“The longest was when they chained me for eight days on end, in a position that meant I couldn’t stand straight nor sit”
Binyam Mohamed

The second telegram asks about a timescale for further interrogation.

The legal organisation Reprive, which represents Mr Mohamed, said its client was shown the telegrams in Guantanamo Bay by his military lawyer Lieutenant Col Yvonne Bradley.

Mr Mohamed claimed he acquired the telegrams through the US legal process when he was fighting to be freed from Guantanamo Bay.

Daniel Sandford, BBC Home Affairs correspondent, said Mr Mohamed’s claims would be relatively simple to substantiate.

“As time progresses it will probably become quite apparent whether indeed these are true telegrams and I think it’s unlikely they’d be put into the public domain if they couldn’t eventually be checked back.”

The Conservatives have called for a police inquiry into his allegations of British collusion.

Mr Grieve called for a judicial inquiry into the allegations.

“And if the evidence is sufficient to bring a prosecution then the police ought to investigate it,” he added.

Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokesman Ed Davey said there was a “rock solid” case for an independent judicial inquiry.

Labour MP Andrew Dismore, who chairs the joint committee on human rights, said he would asking the home and foreign secretaries to explain how Britain’s policy against torture is being implemented and monitored.

Shami Chakrabati, director of campaign group Liberty said: “These are more than allegations – these are pieces of a puzzle that are being put together.

“It makes an immediate criminal investigation absolutely inescapable.”

Former Conservative shadow home secretary David Davis accused the government of “stonewalling” by referring the claims to the Attorney General rather than the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“What appears to have happened is they have been turning blind eyes,” he added.

‘Wrong-doing’

Mr Mohamed told the paper the worst part of this captivity was in Kabul’s “dark prison”.

“The toilet in the cell was a bucket,” he told the paper.

“There were loudspeakers in the cell, pumping out what felt like about 160 watts, a deafening volume, non-stop, 24 hours a day.

“We abhor torture and never order it or condone it”
Foreign Office spokesman

He added: “They chained me for eight days on end, in a position that meant I couldn’t stand straight nor sit.

“I couldn’t sleep. I had no idea whether it was day or night.”

Mr Mohamed spent just under seven years in custody, four of those in Guantanamo – the US’s camp in Cuba.

He was arrested in Pakistan in 2002 as US authorities considered him a would-be bomber who fought alongside the Taleban in Afghanistan.

But last year the US dropped all charges against him, and he was released in February.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We abhor torture and never order it or condone it.

“We take allegations of mistreatment seriously and investigate them when they are made.

“In the case of Binyam Mohamed, an allegation of possible criminal wrong-doing has been referred to the Attorney General.

“We need now to wait for her report.”

Another routine day for British injustice

Posted by terres on February 13, 2009

As predicted, the Crown Prosecution Service will NOT prosecute any police officer over the cold-blood murder of of Jean Charles de Menezes.

“Stephen O’Doherty, the lawyer who led the CPS review, said: ‘I have now concluded that there is insufficient evidence that any offence was committed by any individual officers in relation to the tragic death of Mr de Menezes.'” BBC reported.

Mr de Menezes, 27, was shot dead assassination style by Britain’s secret police at Stockwell Tube station in south London in

Yasmin Khan, a lawyer and spokeswomanfor the Justice 4 Jean campaign described the CPS decision as “morally reprehensible and legally wrong.”

It’s hard to see how the Cowardly Lion could have possibly found sufficient evidence about the murder.

RIP Jean Charles de Menezes, you were born in the ‘wrong’  country!

Vermin!

Posted by terres on June 28, 2008

Where is Amnesty International and all other so-called human rights [sic] organizations when people really need them?

Vermin” was how Mr Charles Falwasser’s, the father of NZ police brutality victim, called the four police officers who repeatedly assaulted his defenseless teenage son with batons and pepper spray in a police cell.

“Delighted” was how the thugs’ racist lawyer Susan Hughes, QC, described the feeling of her depraved clients. “There was only ever going to be one verdict and this was it,” she said.

It proves we live in a black-and-white world,” said, Kihi, mother of the victim, as she condemned the racist justice system: “We are absolutely shocked and devastated by the decision but we’re not surprised. We had a white jury in there.”

“Murderers” and “Pigs,” were how the victim’s brother, Tawhiao, described the racist scumbags.

The gang of four paramilitary thugs [policemen] were acquitted of all charges by an all white jury (surprise, surprise!). (Source: 3News) Image may be subject to copyright. See RTSF Fair Use Notice!

Tawera Falwasser said when he visited the police station and asked how his brother’s head had been split, the answer from a smiling Senior Constable Bruce Laing was “with a baton.” [That demands a punishment with a baton!]

The victim, Mr Falwasser, said he feared for his life and wrote “Jesus” in his blood on the cell walls to attract attention.

He suffered a five-centimeter gash on his head, a 6½-centimeter cut on his arm and bruising on his arms and legs from batons. He now suffered from post-traumatic stress.

The racist judge, Patrick Treston, declined media applications to publish police station CCTV footage of the assault. (Source)

I feel your pain, Pope tells abuse victims [but the charade must go on!]

Posted by terres on April 19, 2008

Pope: Sinful shepherds have brought suffering to their faithful flocks [of sheeple]

Pope acknowledged in a Mass at Washington’s just-opened Nationals Park baseball stadium that pedophile priests had brought “pain and harm” to many parishes.

“No words of mine could describe the pain and harm inflicted by such abuse. It is important that those who have suffered be given loving pastoral attention,” he said. “Nor can I adequately describe the damage that has occurred within the community of the church.”

Thousands of pedophile priests have molested minors in the US since 1950, and the church has paid more than $2 billion in damages.

Below: Wolfgang und der Teufel (“Saint Wolfgang and the Devil”) panel of Pacher’s Kirchenväteraltar (“Fathers of the Church” altarpiece, c. 1483), on display at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich.

Your church is now ready, Wolfgang. Here are the rules, again:

  1. Smite everyone who has a different religion because we don’t want the flocks going around wondering why there are so many shepherds!
  2. Slay all the indigenous people in the world because that’s how we can suppress spirituality, eliminate sustainable lifestyles and ensure “end times!” Besides, wee need their lands.
  3. Torture and burn all of their intellectuals at stake because we don’t like anyone asking questions or sowing the seeds of doubt in the sheeple’s mind!
  4. Forbid the flocks to plan their family and encourage them to f*ck like rabbits. The more children the merrier!
  5. Sodomize all of their children because that’s the only way we can ensure there would be enough new recruits in every generation to perpetuate the lie.

Oh, and don’t worry about paying off damages. I’ll provide an endless supply of money . . .

At least 20 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian fatalities included at least five children and a Reuters cameraman. Three Israel soldiers were also killed.

Reuters said that their cameramen, Fadel Shana, was killed by a direct hit from an Israeli tank shell. the Footage from Shana’s camera showed an Israeli tank firing a shell in his direction, before the image went blank.

Reuters report concerning the cause of Shana’s death was confirmed by an autopsy which determined Shana suffered fatal injuries consistent with the darts scattered by “flechette” tank shells from an Israeli tank.
