Obama wins 2009 Nobel “Peace” Prize

Is This Someone’s Idea of a Dirty Joke?

Not quite. The Norwegian committee members in charge have a habit of awarding the “peace” prize to the guy who advocates using more dynamites!

Are you *^$%#@ serious?

The Nobel prize was created by the inventor of dynamite Alfred Nobel, a Swedish industrialist, who went on to make a dynamite out of  his invention.

The Nobel Committee said they awarded him the prize for  “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples.”

How exactly did he do that?

He sent 21,000 more troops to Afghanistan to kill more civilians.

Dose it mean that he now has the Nobel license to use even more dynamites?

That’s the irony isn’t it. But at least they are consistent in the way they choose their prize-winners. Among  their previous jackpot winners were:

  • Martti Ahtisaari
  • Shimon Peres
  • Yitzhak Rabin
  • The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso
  • The United Nations Peace-keeping Forces
  • Elie Wiesel
  • Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
  • Menachem Begin
  • Henry A. Kissinger
  • The International Committee of the Red Cross (twice)

“Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said. [Ask anyone in Detroit, they’ll yah!]

“[Obama has] created a new climate in international politics, ” the statement from the Nobel Committee said. “Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play.”

Does this mean that Olympics Committee are at least more honorable people than the Norwegian Nobel Committee?

At least one person approved. Obama’s uncle Said Obama reportedly told Reuters by telephone from the president’s ancestral village of Kogelo in western Kenya: “It is humbling for us as a family and we share in Barack’s honor… we congratulate him.”

The ceremony for the peace award will take place on 10 December in Oslo, Norway’s capital. Meanwhile you can email your thoughts (express yourself freely) to the committee at postmaster@nobel.no

The Nobel Dynamite Prize Committee Members [Name them to Shame them]

  • Thorbjørn Jagland:  Chair of the Nobel Committee
  • Kaci Kullmann Five:  Deputy chair of the Nobel Committee
  • Sissel Marie Rønbeck: Former Politician
  • Inger-Marie Ytterhorn: Senior political adviser to the Progress Party’s parliamentary group.
  • Ågot Valle: Member of the Storting (Parliament of Norway)

The dreaded Olympics comes every four years; the agony of Nobel Pe*ce Prize is annual!

Peace prize or war prize to Obama?

    Nasir Khan, October 10, 2009

According to the normal practice the Nobel Peace Prize is to be
awarded to someone who has contributed to the cause of peace. In
President Obama’s case, we see no such evidence. On the contrary,
since taking office he has escalated and extended the war of
aggression in Afghanistan which his predecessor Bush had started.

American pilotless drones target Pakistani territory and kill people
there with impunity. The ever-increasing death-toll of Afghans and
Pakistanis) at the hands of US-led occupation forces shows the reality of this president’s policies. Obama is following the criminal war policies of his immediate predecessor. From Gitmo to Iraq and to the Occupied Territories of the Palestinians his promises have been
futile; he has backed down on each of his policy statements he had
    tossed around.

Except for his empty rhetoric, Obama has produced no concrete results or has he shown any consistent and steadfast line of action to pursue the goals for which people around the world had hoped for. His nuclear arms initiative is praiseworthy, but his warmongering does not entitle him to the peace prize. I suggest that this award should be called War Prize to President Obama. Those in the Nobel Committee who have chosen him for the award have made a joke of the term ‘peace’.
