An Obscene Extravaganza Launches an Environmental Nightmare

As more and more US citizens line at food banks, Dubai throws a $20 million party to launch an environmental nightmare, a luxury resort on an artificial palm-shaped island in a collapsing ecosystem.

    It’s an unusual position for Americans to be in, to be looking in on prosperity from the outside. Hopefully when the economy picks up again we might remember that some people, entire continents worth, have been in this position for decades.

    Not sure what you’re trying to say. But let’s not forget that at the peak of our last economic ‘boom,’ some 14.5% of the U-S population lived below the official poverty line!
